- He must be good at math. (check)
- Be at least six feet tall. (check)
- That he's handsome...(check, check)
Nothing superficial about those qualities...ahem...
No, it isn't his birthday, I was just reminiscing about the good ol' 80s with two mommies yesterday at soccer practice (aren't I always at soccer practice?) Which then led me to think about my good ol' single days (which really weren't so good) and how being married requires an enormous amount of humor and grace.
Like when we email each other and when I'm stressed out and he says:
"Let me take you for a walk."
to which I respond:
"Is there a dog in this scenario? Am I the dog?"
(Please note: this a quote from one of our favorite movies, "When Harry Met Sally." If you have never seen this movie, watch it, if you've never heard of it, I am way too old for you and you need to find a young mommy blog.)
Anyway, the bottom line, marriage gets crazy and add your kids and your pets and it's not always a party with "Dancing Queen" playing in the background (yes another reference to my age.)
So hopefully you picked a good husband; one with a sense of humor who makes you laugh and sometimes when things get hairy, takes you for a walk.

Nice. I never even considered the fact that there are people out there who haven't seen that movie. Or never heard of it? What?! Insanity I tell ya.
I picked a winner - who most likely would love to kick me out for my own walk on a lot of occasions. :o)
a) i totally know the when harry met sally line :) and i *love* that you include it here :)
b) i love this post. it's awesome :)
No, I picked 3 bad ones!
A sense of humor is a must. Though now I'm realizing I've always forgotten the just as important math requirement!
I love being married long enough that we have tons of inside jokes. Things that Dan can say to just crack me up. :-)
Ms. Givens, that's so sad! :(
You had me as soon as I saw the title of this post. :)
I think a sense of humor is the single most important quality in a person. Without it, everything is serious and dull. My husband can make me laugh even when I'm tired, angry, or crying. And I love him for it.
This is the beautiful of relationships.
Kisses and God bless you.
Thanks for linking up! :)
I think it is important to think back to the things that made us fall in love. I thought it was important that he be my friend. :)
Good post! Relationships like yours are those that last forever! I am so happy for you! :)

Ha! I love that.
Sounds like you got one of the good ones. Me too. It's a great feeling :)
Hi Suzanne! Thanks for stopping by my blog and following me! Consider me your newest follower.
I need to watch that movie again because it's been awhile. I'm not married yet, but one on my list is "he must be willing to grocery shop for me". My boyfriend already fills that one thank goodness!

Love this post.
I used to say I would never date a guy shorter than me. My husband is taller than me. I also said he must sing to me and he does.
